Elegant Craft Caddy featuring Xyron, Craftwell and Teresa Collins

Need a fun way to up cycle your empty Teresa Collins Xyron Kit boxes?  This week Xyron have partnered with Craftwell and they have given me a selection from the amazing new Teresa Collins range of dies and folders.  This gives me the perfect excuse to do something fun.

I have made an elegant craft caddy that could be displayed in the home, brought to a crop or given as a gift.  You could of course make one to use for sewing, organising stationery, cosmetics etc or make one for the kids lego blocks, cars, little dolls too.  Add more boxes to create a tower, the possibilities are endless.

All this week Craftwell Blog and the Xyron Design Teams will be sharing many inspirational projects and featuring some amazing products.

CRAFT CADDY

Supplies Used

Xyron Creative Station
Xyron 9" Permanent Refill
Xyron 5" Permanent Refill
Teresa Collins Xyron Adhesive Kit Boxes (3 Empty)
Tim Holtz 'Vintage Photo' Ink Pad
Heavy grade white box card

How it's made

The base is made from the white card.  Lay out three boxes on the card, space two a couple of millimeters apart.  The third box needs to be spaced two box depth widths apart from the second box.  This will allow them to be folded into each other when assembled.  Cut out the required base and add the folds as shown below.

The boxes will all need to open in the same direction.  Measure the interior of a box and create a template to use when cutting out the box linings.

Because the caddy will be opened and closed many times I wanted to ensure that the base will not crack and rip so I used DCWV Burlap to cover the base card.  When cutting out the cover of the base leave a border large enough to fold over the edge and under the boxes.

Run the burlap through the Xyron 9" Creative Station using the Permanent Adhesive.

When placing the base card onto the burlap fold the creases as you go, this will ensure flexibility.

The large gap between the boxes needs to be covered with Burlap also as this will be visible when the boxes are glued in place.

Glue the boxes to the base and test out the folds.

For all the box interiors use the template made earlier to cut out from three contrasting papers.

The papers will be too wide for the embossing folder so fold in the sides (this will give you two debossed sides but it won't be noticeable). I have used the 'Alpha' folder for the box interiors.

On the center of the paper use a white ink pad to bring out the details slightly.

So far so good!.  Once the three interiors are complete then we move on to the lid interiors.

Measure, cut and emboss paper panels and using the Xyron 9" Permanent Adhesive adhere the larger panels to the lids.

That completes the interior.

Repeat the covering of the box lids and sides

I used three different patterns for the box sides

The centre panels and to top box lid have been embossed using the Diamond Motif folder.

To decorate the top lid cut out panels and flowers using the 'A Girl's Best Friend' dies.

Love Love Love the floral dies

To stop the caddy from opening I added some Teresa Collins Perfect Closures to two of the sides.

Now I have a stylist caddy to take with me so I can craft on the go.
